[10a-W371-10] Mode conversion effects on Anderson localization of phonons
Keywords:phonon, Anderson localization, random superlattice
To control the thermal conductivity, the advantage of random superlattices has attracted the interest. In the random superlattices, it is well known that transmission rate of normally incident phonons is suppressed over wide bandwidth resulted from Anderson localization. In this talk, we consider oblique incident phonons. The oblique incident phonons induce mode conversion at the interface between each layers and form mixed mode that consists of longitudinal mode and transversal mode. Using transfer matrix method, we will discuss the effect of the mode conversion on Anderson localization of phonon.
