We have been developing Yb: YAG TRAM laser using zero phonon line excitation and water impinging jet cooling method with the goal of developing a high power CW laser driven at room temperature. In order to obtain kW class output, we performed a laser oscillation experiment under high excitation condition (~2.5 kW), and oscillation output of almost 1 kW was obtained with absorption power of 2 kW. The slope efficiency at the cooling water temperature of 7 ℃ was 0.63, which was found to be about 5% higher than at 18 ℃ (normal temperature).
