[11a-S223-6] Coordination state around Eu in blue phosphor Sr3MgSi2O8:Eu2+ analyzed by ESR and Rietveld method

In order to elucidate the mechanism of yellow emission of Sr3MgSi2O8:Eu2+, we analyzed the cordination state around Eu ion by means of electron spin resonance, and x-ray diffraction Rietveld method. From integrated ESR spectrum, we confirm that the uniaxial symmetry changes according to the firng temperature. The result of Rietveld analysis suggests that several oxigen atoms located very near from Eu ion. The charge density distribution shows the Eu isolation in the samples made at firing temperature 1200 degree C.
