Plasmonic materials consisting of metal nanostructures are expected to be applied to optoelectronic devices, optical metamaterials, sensors, and photovoltaic cells based on their ability to confine optical field in nanoscales. For plasmonic nanoparticles, the plasmon resonances can be tuned by changing the particle size and shape. To maximize the interaction of the nanoparticles with the incident light, highly dense nanoparticle distribution is required, and for practical application on a large scale, self-assembly based fabrication method is preferred. In this research, we fabricate hexagonal plasmonic nanodisks arrays, which correspond to the densest packing configuration, by using “Hole-mask Colloidal Lithography” (HCL) combined with self-assembly of colloid particles. We also characterize their optical properties by transmission spectrum measurement.
