Blue emissions from thin layers of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots are enhanced by surface plasmon resonance on metal substrates. Enhancements were obtained for both silver and aluminum thin layers with 50 nm-thick with the SiO2 thin layers. In the case of silver thin layers with 15 nm-thick, it turned from quenching to enhancement with the change of the surface structure by thermal annealing of the substrate at 200 ℃. Further enhancement was obtained by depositing a SiO2 thin layers on the metal surface by a sputter coater. On the other hand, enhancement was observed in the case of aluminum thin layers with 15 nm-thick, and further enhancements were obtained for both with the thermal annealing and the SiO2 thin layers.
