[11p-S421-14] Refractive index control using Si nanoparticles and application for wide-range anti-reflection coating in terahertz range

Refractive index control technology using Si nanoparticles (SiNPs) is investigated for wide-range anti-reflection coating, and the anti-reflection films with SiNPs are developed for terahertz optical elements. SiNP films experimentally displayed negligible absorbance in the THz range, showing that the SiNPs are suitable for a refractive index control material. 2-layer anti-reflection film composed of SiNPs/polymer composite was fabricated on Si substrates. The film exhibited excellent anti-reflection performance, and the transmittance of the film exceeded 90 % (amplitude) in a wide frequency range of approximately 1.5 THz.
