Single molecule conductance is measured under high temperature by immersing the MCBJ electrodes into a molecule-filled container and then pulling the electrodes apart until tunneling conditions are established. Current traces recorded while the junction is stretched reveal plateaus below 1G0 due to the formation of single-molecule junctions between electrodes.
Conductance histograms made from thousands of traces reveal a well-defined peak that agrees well with previous measurements in ambient conditions and allows an unambiguous measurement of single molecule conductance in vacuum from room temperature(300K) to 420K. A temperature caused conductance differences occurs by anaslying histogram data and it might reveal a unique contacting mechanism in high temperature environments.
