[9p-W933-6] Application of Chalcopyrite Semiconductors to Photoelectrodes for Water Splitting

Tsutomu Minegishi1,2 (1.The Univ. of Tokyo, 2.PRESTO-JST)

Keywords:Artificial Photosynthesis, Semiconductor, Hydrogen

Hydrogen is one of the promising next generation energy carriers. However, the mean to obtain hydrogen from renewable energy is still under investigation. Water splitting through photocatalysis and/or photoelectrochemistry are expected as so-called artificial photosynthesis, in which hydrogen can be obtained cheaply and easily from only sunlight and water present abundantly on the earth. We report on application of chalcopyrite semiconductors to water decomposition reaction in detail.
