[10a-Z13-3] Development and outlook for revolutionary thermoelectric technology to autonomously power sensors

Takao Mori1,2 (1.NIMS, 2.Univ. Tsukuba)

Keywords:thermoelectric, energy harvesting, IoT

There is an urgent need to develop technologies which can autonomously power the trillion IoT sensors & devices necessary to realize Society 5.0. Thermoelectrics are a good candidate. In order to overcome the challenges for application, we have been developing new principles and strategies for enhancement of thermoelectric material performance including ultra-high performance recently discovered. Furthermore, on the applicative aspects, we are developing thermoelectric modules fabricated with processes compatible with industry and mass production, module key technologies, and thermal management, in order to realize the first wide-scale application of thermoelectric power generation.
