Log cultivation of shiitake mushroom production has been declining because of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. We need the selection of a safe tree less than the limit of 50 Bq/kg to restart the shiitake mushroom production. For the current test methods, we need the extra manpower and cost to fell trees and carry them to an inspection site. In this study, we focused on the detection of 32-keV characteristic X-ray and developed a portable inspection system that can detect a small amount of radioactivity concentration even at a low-level contaminated area (~0.1 μSv/h).
