[10a-Z23-8] Direct generation of ultraviolet vortex from a frequency-doubled Pr:YLF laser with an off-axis pumping geometry

we report on the first demonstration of an ultra-compact UV vortex source based on an intra-cavity frequency-doubled Pr:YLF laser with an off-axis pumping geometry. Our system with high cost-efficiency and without any diffractive optical elements should open the door towards new advanced bio-imaging and microfabrication technologies. The generated UV vortex exhibits the ‘bottle beam’ in the presence of a focusing lens and it allows us to develop fluorescence microscopes with a high 3D spatial resolution in UV region.
