[10p-Z07-5] High-Voltage Type Solar Cell Using Transition Metal Oxide-Based Photocatalysts on Both Electrodes

Yasuo Izumi1, Kazuki Urushidate1, Keisuke Hara1 (1.Chiba Univ)

Keywords:photocatalyst, solar cell, high voltage

To utilize light energy effectively, a solar cell to use transition metal-based photocatalyst layers on both electrodes. The advantage is to exhibit electromotive force more than 2 V per cell. Water is oxidized over photoanode while O2 is reduced over photocathode. Therefore, light is permanently convereted into electricity. Higher polarizability and higher photoactivity were required for TiO2 crystal on anode. The keys for BiOCl crystal on cathode were holes in the proximity of transparent electrode and photoactivity. In the lecture, the inprovement of electromotive force and cell power is discussed.
