[10p-Z22-18] Anisotropy of Acoustically induced electric polarization in biological tissues
Keywords:ultrasound wave, electric polarization, femoral cortical bone
Fibrous biomedical tissues are known to have piezoelectricity. Recently, we observed electric polarization of such fibrous tissues and quartz, a typical piezoelectric material induced by ultrasound waves and found that the polarization is proportional to the applied acoustic pressure. In the case of piezoelectricity, the polarization is expected to reflect crystal symmetry. The purpose of this study is to clarify the detection process and anisotropy of acoustically induced polarization with quartz and femoral cortical bone as the measuring object. In this talk, we will report these verification results.
