Keywords:perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) is induced at the Fe/Au(111) interface. We examine the origin of PMA using synchrotron radiation Mossbauer and photoemission spectroscopies. From the spectral analysis, we detected the interfacial proximity effect which modulates the valence-band electronic structure by depositing Fe. Further, we explain that these spectroscopies are also powerful techniques to investigate the interfacial electronic and magnetic properties.
