[11a-Z14-11] Conceptional proof of real time radiation measurement of clinical carbon beam utilizing phosphate glass with co-dopant activator of silver (Ag) and europium (Eu)
Keywords:RPL, realtime measurement, coactivator
The development of a compact and convenient dosimeter devices for three-dimensional dose distribution measurement can be an effective approach in various radiation fields including radiation therapy fields. Radio-photoluminescence (RPL) personal dosimeters are highly-reliable and well-established radiation measurement devices, however, there are still spaces for improvement in the aspect of several physical and chemical structures to be optimized for various applications. There are intensive studies on real-time measurement of clinical radiations utilizing RPL glasses, but applicability of sufficient in-situ measurement by has not been secured and is short by build-up effect. In this study, we have demonstrated modification of RPL glass substrate by introducing co-activator of europium (Eu) which is expected to have high-brightness scintillation luminescence with respect to the silver active center exhibiting the RPL (Radio-Photoluminescence) phenomenon that can support repeated readout. The material was evaluated in various radiation filed to investigate the potential of the newly developed material as a device for real time radiation measurement and dose distribution measurement with single substrate.
