Keywords:borophane, CO2 hydrogenation, two-dimensional materials

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are promising for applications in a wide range of fields because of their unique properties such as a large surface area and novel electronic states. We have previously reported that 2D hydrogen boride (HB) sheets can be produced by exfoliation and complete ion-exchange between protons in ion-exchange resin and magnesium cations in magnesium diboride at room temperature. We have also reported that HB has the light-responsive hydrogen release function, catalytic property as a solid acid catalyst, and metal ion reducibility. In this study, toward a new catalyst for CO2 conversion, we have investigated how HB interacts with CO2 under mild conditions. We will report the CO2 adsorption property of pre-heated HB, the thermogravimetric analysis of HB in Ar atmosphere or CO2 atmosphere, and the reaction products of HB heated in CO2.
