Organic electro-optic (EO) polymers have large electro-optic coefficients and small absorption coefficients in a wide range of the terahertz band, and thus are expected as highly efficient and ultra-wide band terahertz wave generating/detecting materials. In this study, with the aim of realizing highly efficient waveguide-type terahertz wave generation devices, we fabricated and evaluated novel waveguide-type EO polymer devices with air gap structures that enables horizontal confinement of pump light.
