REBa2Cu3Oy (RE123) is a superconducting ceramic with a high critical temperature. Orientation of RE123 microcrystals is necessary for applications. Since the crystal system of RE123 is an orthorhombic system, it can be oriented three-dimensionally by a magnetic field. By knowing the value of magnetic susceptibility, it is possible to improve the three-dimensional orientation. We have been investigating a method for determining magnetic susceptibility anisotropy from a microcrystalline suspension using X-ray diffraction method. In this study, we applied this method to Y0.5Er0.5123 microcrystals and determined the anisotropy ratio of the magnetic susceptibility.
