Interfacial thermal resistance plays an essential role in thermal transport properties on the boundary between two materials, namely, on a heterostructure. It is important to understand how atomic or molecular dynamics and interactions contribute to thermal propagation through the interface. In the present study, we focused on organic molecules called tripodal triptycene that our group have developed recently as solid-liquid interfacial materials. We evaluated the interfacial thermal resistance between Au and water with a self-assembled monolayer of the tripodal triptycene molecules put in using time-domain thermoreflectance method.
