Soft materials such as polymer materials have received a great deal of attention due to their flexibility. Such flexibility enables the development of flexible devices and soft robots. In order to enhance mechanical durability of these devices, understanding bending behavior of soft materials is crucial. In this study, we report analysis of strain distribution in a bending soft material via selective reflection of cholesteric liquid crystal sensor.
