[9p-Z05-7] Prediction of H2 generation from photo-dissociated H and OH on TiO2 surfaces

Koichi Kato1, Katsuyuki Fukutani1 (1.Univ. Tokyo, IIS)

Keywords:hydrogen, TiO2, anatase

Water is dissocited into H and OH on TiO2 surfaces. Anatase is specially famous for photocatalitic reaction of water. We show theoretically that water is dissociated into H and OH. As the photo excitaion continues, H and OH on the anatase stay in higher energies with electron and hole polarons. It has been proven to induce H2 generation exothemally possibly via H tunnelling.
