Keywords:Si-based agent, internal hydrogen generation, oxidative stress-induced disease

Si-based agent generates a high amount of hydrogen by the reaction with water under weak alkaline environment. By oral administration of Si-based agent, hydrogen is generated in bowels, and various diseases developed by oxidative stress can be prevented. We have found that a ppm order Fe catalyst increases the generated hydrogen volume approximately twice, i.e., ~600 mL/g. It is also found that in this case, a silicon oxide layer formed by the reaction with water is thick and non-uniform.
