Materials science is full of dreams. The compounds human beings have synthesized so far are only a small portion of the possible compounds. Compounds containing five elements are common in modern solid electrolytes and metallic materials. In the future, it will not be possible to meet the demands of society without developing new materials (multi-component materials) with even larger numbers of elements. Furthermore, as synthetic techniques have advanced, compounds can now be made by varying various synthetic parameters. Therefore, a vast material search space exists right before our eyes, and many useful materials are sleeping there. Therefore, there is a high chance of finding new materials with intriguing functionality. In this talk, I will introduce our efforts to explore new materials using artificial intelligence and robots.
