Mode-division multiplexing technology has attracted attention for increasing the transmission capacity of optical fibers. We are studying the mode conversion between higher-order modes in few-mode fibers. We report the experimental results on the evaluation of the effect of polarization control of input LP₁₁ mode and the phase matching with LP₂₁ mode using force-induced long-period fiber gratings.
