[12a-B414-2] Enhancement of Baseband Bandwidth of Differential Ring Oscillator using Resonant Tunneling Diodes
Keywords:terahertz, resonant tunneling diode, oscillator
Resonant tunneling diode (RTD) is one of the promising terahertz sources for the application to ultra-high-speed wireless communication. We reported 30 Gbit/s error-free wireless communication using RTD transceiver and receiver. However, the output power of the RTD is still low, which is one of the problems of RTD. We are proposing a differential ring oscillator using RTD. We conducted a wireless communication experiment with the oscillator and achieved 7 Gbit/s error-free transmission. Main reason for this result is the narrow characteristics of the baseband circuit which consists of a coaxial connector, substrate, bonding wire and RTD device. In this report, we present the enhancement of baseband bandwidth of this oscillator by improving wire-bonding and 25 Gbit/s error-free wireless communication using this oscillator and high-sensitive injection-rocked receiver.
