We previously reported high thermoelectric perfrormance in a polycrystalline sample of (hole-doped) Cu3PS4. In this work, mechanism of low lattice thermal conductivity for the sample was investigated by means of micro-to-nano scale structural analysis and first principles calculations of phonon properties. The results suggested that reduction of the grain size to 50–300 nm is effective to decrease the phonon mean free paths.
