We have investigated the fabrication method of the nanographene from the carbon films prepared by hot mesh deposition using soft X-ray irradiation. The carbon films consisted of pentacene and dihydropentacene. The broad peak around 1575 cm-1 was observed in Raman spectra of both the carbon films prepared on the Cu and Ni films. No Raman spectra were found to be different between the Cu and Ni films before soft X-ray irradiation. After soft X-ray irradiation, the broad peaks due to amorphous or graphite-like carbon were observed in the carbon film on the Cu film. On the other hand, the sharp peaks due to G, D, and 2D bands of graphene were observed in the carbon film on the Ni film. It was found that the polymerization reactions of pentacene and dihydropentacene were different between the Cu and Ni films.
