[12a-PB3-19] Novel Electroless Plating on Plastic Surface Without Using Chromic Acid Etching
Keywords:Electroless plating, Oxygen plasma, Chromic acid
In this study, we tried novel electroless plating process on plastic surface by replacing the conventional chromic acid etching with oxygen plasma.
It has been shown that Pd catalyst can be absorbed on the polycarbonate surface created by oxygen plasma. Ni film deposited on this surface has sufficient adhesion strength. The film prepared by oxygen plasma treatment has smooth and reflective surface, while the film deposited by the chromic acid etching had rough and opaque surface.
Techniques using oxygen plasma treatment not only can eliminate the use of chromic acid, it also can be seen that an excellent technique for making an electroless plating film having good flatness.
