[12p-A302-13] Measurement of friction force acting on charged microparticles in DC glow discharges

We have developed a new equipment for observing Coulomb crystals in DC glow discharges. This equipment has an advantage that there is a large free space region surrounding the crystal region, and it is possible to control the position of the crystal in the free space region. We then made the charged particles falling down in the free space region and measured the time dependence of the falling velocity of the charged particles. As a result, friction force acting on the particles was estimated experimentally.
