Since the coherent heterodyne detection technique can directly observe the phase information of light, it can be applied to various optical measurement techniques. The backscattered light in the optical fiber reflects electric field distribution information inside the fiber. Birefringence caused by minute distortion of the optical fiber causes a phase change of the backscattered light. Therefore, we constructed an experimental system for measuring birefringence using coherent technology and aimed to measure it.
