REBa2Cu3Oy(RE123) superconductors exhibit high critical temperature (Tc) and high critical current density (Jc) under magnetic fields. However, randomly grain oriented RE123 polycrystalline bulks show low Jc due to the weak link of grain boundary. Therefore, we fabricated c-axis grain aligned RE123 sintered bulks by a simple magnetic grain orientation technique using permanent magnets and EtOH. The c-axis aligned bulks showed approximately 1.5 times higher intergrain Jc than that of the randomly oriented bulks.
