▲ [13a-PA1-7] Artifact Removal in Handheld Microwave Radar-Based Imaging System
Keywords:Sensors, Tumor detection, Radar technology
We investigated the effective dielectric constant on confocal images where differences in intensity and signal-to-mean ratio for with and without target were maximum and attained target image without any artifacts at a very low threshold of 0.3, using our hand-held microwave impulse radar detector of Ref.1. A breast phantom with an embedded cylindrical water target having the sizes of 2 cm in length and 0.5 cm in diameter was used in this measurement with dome antenna arrays. In order to improve sensitivity, the differences of intensity and SMR of with and without target were significantly improved by optimizing the gap between antenna array and case, even distribution of glycerin between antenna array and case without any airgap and selection of equidistant Tx-Rx antenna pairs.
