Tannic acid (TA) is one of the natural polyphenols and known as an antioxidant. TA is able to form the metal-phenolic-network (MPN) with various metal ions on the surfaces of a variety of materials, and specifically, the multifunctional capsules were developed. Furthermore, the specific metal ions tailor the MPN of TA as metallogels. If nanoparticles were made by the TA-based MPNs, they have tremendous potential as a carrier of bioactive ingredients for theranostic and cosmetic applications, because of the biocompatibility of TA and the facile formation of the MPNs, i.e., mixing of TA and metal ion. Here, we report the preparation methods for the nanoparticles made of TA-based MPNs by the ultrasound emulsification.
