Layered iridate A2IrO4 (A = Sr, Ba) has drawn considerable attention due to interesting physical properties, and furthermore, it has been theoretically proposed that unconventional superconductivity is induced by carrier-doping for A2IrO4. So far, we have successfully synthesized a layered iridium oxyfluoride Sr2Ir(O,F)6-δ using topochemical reaction method. This time, we report synthesis and physical properties of a new layered iridium oxyfluoride Ba2Ir(O,F)6-δ and discuss a variation of Ir valence and physical properties between Sr and Ba system.
