We propose a phase shift estimation method using the inner product of normalized phase-shifted holograms. We apply the proposed method to holograms with periodic fringe structures and speckle-like holograms, and show that the phase shift estimation and the object wave reconstruction can be successfully performed. In addition, we consider the inner product method for the orthogonalized normalized phase-shifted holograms obtained by the Gram–Schmidt orthonormalization method.
