[13p-B508-12] Capillary electrophoresis of carboxylic acids with terahertz spectroscopic detection
Keywords:carboxylic acids, capillary electrophoresis, near-field terahertz detection
Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy and imaging is expected as a novel detection technique for biological samples for the last decade. We attempted to apply the THz near-field spectroscopic technique by irradiating THz wave to the sample before the THz flux is diffusing, in order to overcome the diffraction limit of THz to fused capillaries. Capillary electrophoresis has been achieved for the separation of monocarboxylic acids, i.e., acetic acid, n-propionic acid, etc., without UV absorbents for indirect detection. The electropherograms were obtained by THz near-field technique as well as by electrochemical detection. THz near-field spectroscopy is anticipated as a unique detection tool for the capillary electrophoresis.
