Keywords:terahertz, topological insulator

Terahertz wave has potential to observe directly a specific binding state of bio-related molecular system without modifying fluorescent molecules. In a view point of bio-sensor applications, however, weak and broad peaks are isuues that must be resolved, which are due to their small energy and the fluctuations of higher-order structure. We are aiming for enhancing peak intensity by a combined resonance effect of surface plasmon resonance using a wavelength which matches the intermolecular coupling (in a THz wave region).
In this research, we have focused on a topological insulator Bi2Te3 which is expected to generate surface plasmon resonance in the terahertz wave region. Thin films of them have been fabricated on sapphire substrates by a pulsed laser deposition method. We will report crystal structures and physical and optical properties of Bi2Te3 thin films.
