[14a-A408-1] Surface Functionalization and Adhesion Suppression by Mimicking Pitcher-Plants

Kengo Manabe1 (1.AIST)

Keywords:hydrophobic, wettability, coating

The issues of superhydrophobic surfaces that have been put into practical use from the viewpoint of liquid repellency are transparency, antifouling performance against low surface tension liquids, and friction performance. In recent years, liquid-infused surfaces (LIS), which are mimicking pitcher-plants, have the potential to overcome the challenges of conventional superhydrophobic surfaces. Herein, we report on surface functionalization and adhesion control of substances (liquid, solid, and viscoelastic substances) by LIS.
