The viscous material in the orb web of spider is composed of glycoprotein and salt, and has both stickiness and fixation. However, our current understanding of the viscous material of spider orb web to be incomplete. Here, we mapped elements of the viscous material in the orb web using a home-made time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS). In this report, we will report and discuss that the effect of salt on viscous material versatility.
