[14a-PB2-13] Cell cycle dependence of phototoxicity of living cells irradiated
by 450 nm laser light

In live cell imaging, we showed that blue light causes DNA damage in living cells by observing the dynamics of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) after irradiation with blue laser light. Laser light was applied to living cells in the M and S phases to examine the cell cycle dependence of phototoxicity. These results indicate that in the S phase, PCNA accumulates at the site irradiated with laser light to repair DNA damage, and the action of PCNA causes cell cycle dependence of phototoxicity.
