[15a-A408-4] Response improvement of aligned nanofiber/liquid crystal complex loaded NRD waveguide type terahertz wave variable phase shifter

Non-radiative dielectric (NRD) waveguide has recently attracted attention due to having low propagation loss and advantages such as restricting undesired radiation at curved sections and discontinuities. In previous research, we succeeded in realizing the liquid crystal-loaded NRD waveguide type terahertz wave variable phase shifter by using liquid crystal instead of the solid dielectric part of the original NRD waveguide. However, since the thickness of the liquid crystal layer is several hundred micrometers, it has a so long response time of several hundred seconds when the driving voltage is removed. In this study, we improved response time by using aligned nanofiber / liquid crystal complex.
