In nuclear emulsions for cosmic-ray imaging, muons are detected by the formation of small silver grains (latent image centers) on silver halide grains in the emulsions, thus forming their nuclear tracks after development process.Since the time required to detect muons is usually long, the stabilization of latent image centers is an importsant subject. We got a new compound for stabilizing latent image centers, and have studied its effect on the electronic structure of Ag by means of photoelectron spectroscopy. Then, we propose the mechanism latent image fading and idears to prevent latent image centers from fading.
