電子回路とレーザーダイオード、フォトダイオード、外部光変調器を用いて取り扱いを容易にし、小型化した電子式CRDS装置を構成した。本研究では外部変調方式の光変調器を用いて注入電流による波長の変化改善を行った。
リングダウンパルス本数の増加によって物理的に光路長を長くしたことに相当し、外部光変調器を用いた電子式CRDSにより測定の高感度化が可能になった。
