We propose and demonstrate volume re-mapping microscopy that boosts the imaging speed of light-sheet microscopy by a factor of >10. In this method, the volume rate can be significantly improved by simultaneously acquiring multiple 2D images at different depth positions with a single-frame readout of a CMOS camera. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, we obtained 3D images of neurons of Caenorhabditis elegans that express Yellow Cameleon 2.60 at 60 volumes / sec, demonstrating the improvement of volume rate by a factor of ~10.
