We have investigated the resonance frequency of ultra-thin metal-insulator-metal (MIM) metamaterial absorbers (MMAs) with various insulator thicknesses. We quantitively derived dispersion curve using basic equations in plasmonic waveguide and MMAs. The result gives a clear expression for the shift of 1^st resonance mode in an ultra-thin MIM MMA.
