[10a-N102-5] Whisker and nanowire occasionally observed in ultra-high vacuum

Keywords:Molecular Beam Epitaxy, Nanowire, Ultra High Vacuum

The vacuum level used for molecular beam epitaxy is close to that of geostationary satellites in the exosphere. If we try to synthesize crystals that deviate from the general conditions, we occasionally obtain a variety of crystals that are extremely difficult to intentional synthesize. Looking at the nature such as outer space, there are many examples of crystal formation with various compositions and structures, and it may be possible to obtain clues for its interpretation. From a solid understanding, we would like to improve the controllability of the crystal growth that will lead to the expression of new functional crystals.
