Keywords:van der Waals heterostructures, optical properties of moire excitons

Van der Waals heterostructures composed of transition metal dichalcogenides are a fascinating platform to engineer the optically generated excitonic properties through moiré patterns with angular mismatch towards novel quantum phenomena. The moiré pattern as a periodic trap potential can give rise to spatially ordered ensembles of zero-dimensional exciton (moiré exciton), which offers the possibility for dense coherent quantum emitters and quantum simulation of many-body physics. Here, we report the novel excitonic features of the moiré exciton in a twisted WSe2/MoSe2 heterobilayer based on near-resonant photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy. The PL spectrum strongly depending on the excitation energy shows highly selective excitation of the moiré exciton at phonon resonances.
