Keywords:plasma, mortar, hydrophilicity

An atmospheric-pressure argon plasma jet was irradiated to the mortar fabricated from cement for ultrahigh-strength concrete used in the construction of tall buildings for 1-3 minutes.
The contact angle of a water drop on the mortar surface after the plasma irradiation for 1 min decreased from 84 to 19 degree.
The hydrophilicity of the mortar surface improved after the plasma irradiation.
