▲ [10p-N404-3] Dynamic range of refractive index measurement by focused surface plasmon
Keywords:focused surface plasmon, birefringence measurement, dynamic range
We report on a study of dynamic range of surface plasmon sensing. Commercially available prism based surface plasmon sensors have limited dynamic range (typically ~0.01). Characterizing samples such as tissues cultured with DMEM solution requires large dynamic range. Focused surface plasmon (FSP) sensing provide remarkably high dynamic range (~ 0.5). Additionally, FSP provides high spatial resolution corresponding to the optical diffraction limit and single shot measurement of local refractive index.
The practical dynamic range limitation in the conventional approach and the advantage of using FSP to enhance the dynamic range will be shown.
