A high-speed all-silicon photonic modulator is a key component for energy-efficient optical transceivers. We review our recent work on the demonstration of high-speed all-silicon modulator using a bandwidth enhancement technique and the investigation of energy-efficient and multi-level optical DAC transmitter using modeling and numerical simulation.
